This excellent example of the classic working Land Rover is fitted with the robust and much loved LT77 5 speed Land Rover gearbox which has recently been rebuilt and is matched to a high low ratio transfer case and differential locks. Powered by the ever popular discovery 200 TDI turbodiesel, an engine renowned for its power, simplicity and ease of maintenance. Generating 111 bhp and cooled by an efficient KenLowe fan system this drivetrain is considered to be “unburstabtle” and supersedes the earlier 19J drivetrain which generated a snivelling 83 bhp.
At some time in its life “the Forrester” has benefited from replacement doors. Equipped with an Ifor Williams sheep-shagger’s tin top (a piece of automotive engineering styled on a wartime Nissen hut, a Dixon Bates adjustable tow bar, heavy duty steel Wella wheels with bonnet-mounted spare, checker plate wing tops, standard steel bumper with 50 mil front tow hook, this truck has led a sheltered life compared the some of the farm trucks that come through our portals.
