It’s previous obviously knew what he was doing when he took this on as a lockdown project, and his description says it all.
“Genuine Land Rover Defender 200tdi
Supplied new in 1991 as a hard top to a local farmer by Woburn Land Rover.
It remained local with the second owner adding the tree and rock sliders for off road duties. It has a lot of underbody protection including a huge galvanised fuel tank guard, diff guards, steering guard and cut away bumperettes at the back. He also changed the rear axle to disc brakes.
The third owner was another local farmer who wasn’t using it much and sold it me as I have been a Land Rover owner 35 years and would enjoy it as a COVID project!
There is lots of history and £thousands spent.
Tyres are all good Kumo 10 ply mud pattern though the spare is on a modular rim.
The chassis is original and solid having been repaired where needed and has had a rear cross member in the past and been waxoiled regularly.
The bulkhead is original and sound with the foot wells repaired.
The bonnet is from a TD5 fitted with gas struts and black chequer plate.
The outer wings are new aluminium as the originals bore the scars of being used as intended.
The cab is tidy with reupholstered seats, all important truck cab headlining with overhead console and the original seat base. The floor is chequer plate and it has a sound proofing tunnel cover. The seat belts are showing their age and an advisory but passed OK. Expires 27 August 2021.
The door frame bottoms are new and the doors rebuilt including the internal rain shedders.
The passenger door is original, drivers door is not.
It has a half rear door conversion with new swing away wheel carrier and genuine high lift jack mounts in the tub which is original. It comes with a wheel brace and the best Tang Shelley Jack and handle that last forever.
It has had a gearbox at some point and the clutch is new. The gear stick has been rebushed and adjusted and shifts like new.
The injection pump has just been expensively reconditioned by Colchester Diesels and the injectors are new. New timing belt and water pump fitted at the same time. The fuelling is standard though the waste gate rod is shortened for a bit more boost. It has a modified rear exit exhaust with one box and an operational snorkel.
I would go as far to say that it does not drip oil which is quite something for one of these!
It bears various dents and bends in the bodywork and I had intended on a respray though it’s at the point that it’s tidy enough to be proud of but not too tidy to have a bit of fun. I leave that to the next owner as if it was shinier then it would be a grand or so more expensive!”
