Land Rover TD5 Double Cab Pick Up (DCPU) 2004 “The Cable Car” #166
For many the 130 DCPU is the ultimate Land Rover, offering a massive load carrying capacity, and the capability to transport up to 6 passengers in total comfort… (If you’ve only been a passenger in a Trabant; for the neophytes: Defenders are acquired taste, and if you’re not into them, I recommend surfing to here: https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/42925002685496339/ ).
“The Cable Car” is an example of the last iteration of the TD 5, sporting the 15P engine.
Registered in 2004 in Wimbledon hence its boring white coachwork, this sturdy example has dual possibilities: it can go straight to work in its current excellent condition, sporting its hideous Ifor Williams hardtop, an accessory that has about as much charm as a Nissen hut in a prisoner of war camp, and is entirely suited to transporting sheep, logs, dogs or irritating children, or it would serve as an excellent blank canvas for a Spector-style Overland Truck. Bin the hardtop, repaint it in dark graphite grey or gunmetal, fit an external roll cage, fit wider rims with mud terrain tyres, and Bob’s your auntie, you are King/Queen of the Hill.
Our workshops are at your disposition to realise your bespoke customisation if you have your cheque book to the ready, or readies is at our disposition.
Personally, the double cab is my favourite model, as is the 110, and the 90, and the 88, and of course I also like the 109.
There is a reason for which there are about 7 different “favourite” Land Rovers: so you can have one for each day of the week (we are open by appointment on Sundays for serious buyers).
This particular example has an impeccable drivetrain, extremely clean engine bay and an excellent chassis. The interior is standard, in good condition and boring, as is the hint of metal moth in the door bottoms.
As always, our descriptions can be relied upon, any inspection welcome, and we offer a door-to-door delivery as well as nationwide shipping. Why not call us for a free quote?
